Where is the location of the clutch release bearing for a 1996 jetta GLS?

i bout the clutch kit i change everything exept the bearing i cant find the location?? can you tell me the exact location is it a big bolt

  1. Inside the bellhousing/transmission housing. The thing that bolts to the engine......
  2. You changed the clutch and you can't find the bearing. That's a good one! If you can't find the bearing you better take it to a shop and have them make sure the clutch is installed right.
  3. you will need that!, its inside the bell housing, thats what pushes the pressure plate in.
  4. The release bearing in the 020 transmission in the 96 jetta is located in the end case of the trans. under a green tin cap .Remove the left front wheel you may need to lower trans. a bit but it can be replaced without removing the trans.The bearing lives a very very happy life in a constant bath of gear lube and seldom fails .
