how do i fix my 1996 ford explorer clutch? Does anyone know the steps to put in a clutch kit?

I smoked the clutch I think and I need to know how to do it. By me to replace a clutch costs $800-1000. It would be a life saver if someone out there could help me!!! PLEASE!!

1. You don't have a chance it would take two guys and a car lift to do it. Do you have that at your disposal? If so I'll tell you how but afterwards you would have wished you had just paid the $800 to have someone esle to do it.
2. ring round for quotes,dont take the first one...ask friends they may know a good,cheep mechanic...
3. It is physically difficult to do your self. I just had mine replaced for $235. What I did is bought the kit myself and called around to get labor prices. It worked out great. Was done in 1&1/2 hour. It works terrific, almost drives like new again. See if you can get a shop to agree to do it with you buying the parts.
4. Best way to buy a manual book how to replace clutch. You have to take off transmissions then you will see the clutch. Its easy to do it but it hard work. I had done it.
