How do I get clutch replaced under warranty?
I have a 2005 Nissan w/20k miles under factory warranty. My clutch has started to slip. The dealer says it's a wear and tear item, regardless of the low miles. I called Nissan corporate and they say to keep trying different dealerships. I don't ride the clutch or anything, so I know this is obviously premature. The dealer wants to charge $2,200 for a new flywheel and clutch kit install. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this and get it replaced under warranty?

- Unless it's known to be a defective clutch, you're out of luck with the manufacturer. If there are an excessive number of failures, they will probably have to do a recall on it. I have seen where an item was reimbursed after the consumer paid for a fix, if the company found out later the part was faulty. If you end up paying for it, $2200 is a little excessive. You can try an independent Nissan specialist.
- clutch is not covered...go to private garage...should cost 700 to 900 dollars...its a consumable not covered

- Call corporate back, and ask for a letter stating that they think it is premature.. Also ask for a list of dealerships, Start at your dealership with the owner of the dealership, explain to him that, if they won't solve the problem, you'll go somewhere else, ... and that will be your dealership from now on...... The letter from corporate should solve your problem.. More than likely the dealership charges customer more for that repair than warranty pays.....
- Unfortunatly clutches are like brakes and concidered a parishable iton no dealer will replace it under wnty.&2200.00 is an excessive amount for a new clutch ck.around and you will find it for half that.
