Will buying a sports performance clutch for my car increase torque significantly?

I was wondering. My car has the factory clutch kit, even though it's a sports car (Toyota Celica GT-S). I was wondering if I bought the most expensive sports clutch kit that there is would I see tremendous increase in torque for my car? If so about how much increase in torque?

  1. Go read what a clutch actually does, because you apparently have no idea. Think of it like your shoe. It provides the friction between your moving part (your leg/engine), and the part that you wish to move (the ground/transmission). If you get a different shoe, it doesn't somehow magically increase the amount of torque your leg is putting out. If your leg sucks, your leg sucks. No shoe will fix that. It just means you won't slip on the ground as often. Same idea. No gain in torque, just better transfer of the little that you do have.
  2. You will have the same amount of torque - however the performance clutch will allow you to translate that torque into power at the wheels. Less slippage = more performance.
  3. Can't Vipassan say it nice at all?, even though he's absolutely correct?
  4. Spend your money elsewhere. Chip, headers, intake riser, etc..these will increase performance. performance clutch means less slippage from Engine/Trans to transaxles.
  5. It will not increase tour car's torque at all. But if you do play with the engine and soup it up, then the performance will help you use the extra torque that you hotter engine produces
