Cheap Sport Car Search?

Hey well my title is pretty self explanatory I am looking for a sport car that wont bust my teenage wallet while at the same time has the potential to be awesome or is just awesome. I am looking for a some what nice sport car for my very first car. My range is 2,000 to 6,000 so im unsure what I can get for that. I have 8,000 but I would like to save that extra 2 grand for adding things to the car for instance stereo or body kit stuff if needed. Any way ya I am open to any suggestions people have.

  4. Well many people dont like these cars on here, but I would get a Mustang. I got mine with 80K miles, a 1998 GT for $5500. There are tons of stuff you can add on to them. They are cheap to fix. Most people recognize one when they see them. If your all about speed, get a GT. If you are all about looks you might as well get a V6 engine mustang. Other suggestions: Camaro: These are sporty and fast. Get one in the 90's and you wont have as much maintence problems. Mitsubishi Eclipse: These are sporty fast cars and you can get them very cheap. They come both turbo and non turbo. Eagle Talon: a sister to the eclipse. They are almost the same thing as the eclipse with a slightly different look. Insurance might be higher for these cars esp. the stang and camaro. Put it under your parents name and its so much cheaper.
  5. I'll get flamed for this: E36 BMW 3 series. I bought mine for $6400, and never regretted it, it was a 98 328is 5 speed. It will still be cool 5 years from now when you get over the whole "sports car" thing. Trust me, we all want the sporty car with the body kit/rims and stuff, but in 3-6 years from now, will you still want that stuff? The 328is had a 2.8 liter, 190 hp, 207 ft lbs torque engine that still got me 29 mpg highway, and was faster than a 98 Mustang Gt, due to being lighter and geared better. They are also comfortable, luxurious, sporty, arguably the best handling vehicle under $10,000. Those are things you won't find in any little import car, and certainly not any American "muscle" car. The e36 chassis is now as cheap to maintain as any eclipse, I know, I maintained it on a high school kid budget. Insurance is still reasonable too.
  6. Here is a list of the top 10 most fun sports cars for under $5,000. In better condition, some of these cars cost more than $5000. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=141346?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.* I am adding to the list a Mazda MX-3, Mazda MX-6, Toyota Celica, and Hyundai Tiburon.
