I have a 2nd gen Trans Am with a 2.41 limited slip differential. there is movement in the ends of the half shafts: I have removed the diff cover, and the C clips and the grooves on the half shaft do not appear very worn. I have a Pontiac Trans Am that has a broken speedometer cable and I am having trouble replacing it.? I know the cable is bad, cause it is literally broken in the middle. My real issue is removing the cable from the speedometer. I can see where it goes in, feel it, but there is a metal type of "clip" that has it secured to the speedometer. How is the clip supposed to be pressed in order to allow the cable to come out? Do I need pliers or something to remove it? I don't want to break it off and then end up in a worse situation than I already am in. Thanks.

Has anyone had this car problem with a Pontiac Trans Am? My 1998 trans am sounds like the rear axle bounces or clangs when i hit a bump. When i slow down to a stop, the car sounds like it stalls, and then when i press the gas pedal again, it kicks hard into gear, like its slipping then pops into gear. Anyone know if this might be the transmission or differential problem?

It is in great condition, with maybe a couple small coffee stains on the front carpet. There also are a couple half inch scratches on the front and rear bumper. It is a v8 automtic, has about 105,000 miles on it; maybe a little less. No problems with it whatsoever. ive had to have the brakes changed a couple times and thats about it. The car also is red. What's the lifter clearance on a Pontiac 400 with solid lifters? ('77 Trans Am)? I have a '77 Pontiac Trans Am with the original 400 Pontiac engine, but it has several modifications. It has been switched from hydraulic lifters to solid lifters. I believe it has a different cam, and it has an aftermarket Turbo installed. The mechanical fuel pump just went out, and my mechanic is noticing some loose lifters on one side of the engine. He can't remember what the clearance ought to be, though. Anyone know?

No rust, everything original, hasn't been started in years though, all windows still intact, just like Smokey and the bandit but without the t-tops. He even still has the original red, gold and orange bird decal that was on it. I'm sure it's no good anymore but that's kinda cool. My brother bought it off the showroom floor in 79. Drove it for about 7 years (low miles) then when he moved he left it in my mom and dad's drive way. There's not a day that goes by that someone doesn't stop and ask if they can buy it! Everybody wants that car. My brother won't sell it, he certainly doesn't need the money, he says he's going to have it totally refurbished for his youngest son to drive.
